Ikhwan Online, (Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt)

The Society of the Muslim Brothers, is a transnational Sunni movement and the largest political opposition organization in a handful of Arab states, particularly Egypt.

The group was founded by the Egyptian schoolteacher Hassan al-Banna in 1928, as a social and political movement of resistance against the Egyptian State. Despite the fact that it has been prohibited to establish itself as a legal political party, it has gained ground in Egyptian political life with victory in parliament elections, professional unions (lawyers, medical doctors) and so forth.
