Darul Ifta, Darul Uloom Deoband, (Uttar Pradesh, India)

Darul Uloom Deoband is a Sunni movement based in Uttar Pradesh, India. It was founded in 1866 by a group of religious scholars led by Maulana Muhammad Qasim Nanautawi, with Maulana Rashid Ahmed Gangohi and Haji Syed Abid Hussain figuring prominently. The movement aims at the preservation of Islamic knowledge and practice through education according to the Nizami syllabus of traditional religious sciences. The Deobandis are not expressly political, but certain members made important contributions to the anti-colonialist movement in the Indian subcontinent. In general, the group is known for more conservative interpretations when it comes to social interactions and etiquette.
