Seyed Mohammad Sadeq Rohani

Ayatollah Rohani was born in 1926 in the city of Qom to a family of faqihs and Islamic scholars. The Ayatollah moved to the city of Najaf, Iraq, in 1950, but returned to Iran after a few years and resided in Qom. According to the Ayatollah's bio on his website, he is "known as an avant-garde Islamic jurist with modern views, but never abandons the rulings of God in the name of expediency or modern thinking; he never denies Islamic traditions and beliefs." The Ayatollah has been teaching in Qom seminary at the highest level of Islamic jurisprudence teaching since 1962.
