Mohammad Metwally al-Shaarawy (b. 1911 in Dakadous Village, Mit Ghamr, in al-Dakahleyya Governorate) was one of the most prominent Egyptian preachers and jurists of his time and is a descendent of the Prophet Muhammad. He was appointed Minister of Religious Endowments in 1976 and until 1978 and was the first to issue a ministerial decree to establish an Islamic Bank, Faisal Bank.
He died on April 17th, 1998.
