The European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR) has published its second collection of Fatwas and resolutions. The ECFR's rulings pertaining to the rights of a wali (trusted guardian or sponsor) in the marriage procedure include that the guardian may not force or compel the woman to marry to a man whom she does not want. Among other rulings the Council also advises that fathers facilitate the marriage of their daughters through mutual consultation and not forbiddingdaughters from getting married.
