The Free Front for Peaceful Change has started a campaign calling on Egyptians to cast a protest vote of "the revolution continues" on ballots during the elections' runoffs between the Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohamed Mursi and Mubarak-era former Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq.
The campaign which is dubbed "participate and cast your ballot" is based on the group's vision of an Egypt as a civil state and in protest at all counter-revolutionary activites taking place in the last year, according to a press statement released by the movement.
"Neither of the runoffs candidates represent the interests of the revolution in our opinion; Shafiq is considered a remnant of the old regime and says Mubarak is his role model; Mursi, on the other hand, represents the Muslim Brotherhood group, whose parliament raised its hat to the ruling military council on its first session, and not the revolution," said the statement.
