Dubai's Grand Mufti Issues Fatwa to Postpone Umrah (Pilgrimage) Due to Swine Flu

A fatwa by Dr Ahmad Abdul Aziz Al Haddad, Dubai's highest mufti, has called on pilgrims from the country to postpone going for Umrah due to the spread of swine flu around the world, the Arabic press reported.

His call follows an earlier call issued by Hatem Al Jabli, Egyptian Health Minister, who had also urged Muslims to avoid crowding at mosques, and postpone going for Umrah by two to three weeks, in addition to avoiding visiting cinemas and restaurants.

Al Haddad said that precautionary measures must occur in countries where the virus has already spread, but doesn’t apply to all countries.
