Aga Khan

Aga Khan is the title of the Nizari Ismaili Imams since Hasan Ali Shah (d. 1881). The Aga Khan is a direct lineal descendant and successor of the first Shii Imam, Ali, and his wife, Fatimah, Muhammad's daughter. The present Imam, Prince Karim al-Husayni, is the forty-ninth hereditary imam of the worldwide Nizari Ismaili community. See also: Ismailiyya(h)
