An abaya is a long, loose cloak or robe which covers a woman's body except for her hands, feet, and head. It is traditionally black and worn with a niqab, or black face-veil which also covers the hair. The abaya is worn primarily Gulf countries, like Yemen, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates. In Saudi Arabia it is mandated by law. See also chador.
