Consuming intoxicants in a little quantity invites naturally to do more consumption, and so when a person gets addicted to consuming intoxicants he is unable to stop himself from consuming just a little. Therefore, in view of religion, it is necessary to declare something unlawful if it intoxicates. Therefore, whatever is intoxicant should be unlawful.

So, it has been mentioned in the sayings attributed to the Prophet that things which intoxicate in much quantity their little quantity are also forbidden. The bad effect of drinking is that drunkeness often leads to quarrels with people, abuses, and creates disturbances.
